Why vegetarians start with less creatine

Creatine occurs naturally in meat and fish. In one trial baseline muscle total creatine was 117 mmol/kg dry mass in vegetarians versus 130 in non-vegetarians. With supplementation, vegetarians showed larger increases in total creatine, phosphocreatine, lean tissue and total work.
