Intermittent fasting versus a plain deficit

In a randomised trial, weight loss at 6 months was −6.8% in both arms: alternate-day fasting and plain daily calorie restriction. Dropout was highest in the fasting arm at 38%. A meta-analysis likewise found no difference between the approaches (−0.61 kg, confidence interval crossing zero).
