Protein and resistance training after 50
A meta-analysis found a 0.69 kg gain in fat-free mass (CI 0.47–0.91) when protein was added alongside resistance training. A separate meta-regression put the ceiling of benefit at about 1.62 g of protein per kg per day. With age, pairing protein with resistance work becomes especially relevant to preserving muscle.
