Sodium and potassium: what the trials measured
In a review of randomised trials, modest salt reduction was accompanied by a 4.18 mmHg fall in systolic blood pressure among hypertensive participants. A parallel review found increased potassium intake lowered systolic pressure by 3.49 mmHg. These are findings within the studied populations; blood pressure is a matter for a doctor.
