Short sleep and appetite
After two nights of 4 hours' sleep, healthy men showed leptin down 18%, ghrelin up 28% and self-rated hunger up 24% compared with 10-hour nights. A meta-analysis found partial sleep deprivation raised next-day energy intake by an average of 385 kcal, with no significant change in energy expenditure.
